Festival Guidelines

The information provided here is designed to make your experience at the High Mountain Hay Fever Bluegrass Festival as pleasant and trouble-free as possible.

FESTIVAL SITE PLAN

ENTERING THE FESTIVAL GROUNDS; PARKING

•  Day parking is available at no charge on the festival grounds. Enter at the end of Main Street. Parking attendants will direct you to a parking place. If no attendant is on duty, follow signs to a designated parking area.

•  If you are planning to camp in the RV and tent camping area, enter the Main Lot to the left just beyond the Westcliffe Supermarket. If the Main Lot is full you will be directred to Lot 2 across the street.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BE PREPARED

•  Weather in these parts in mid-July is normally quite warm during the day and cool at night. Plan on highs around 80 and lows of 45-55.

•  Westcliffe sits at an altitude of 7,888 feet so the effect of the sun in our thinner air can be intense. Please bring protective clothing and sunscreen.

•  In the summer, afternoon thunderstorms are always possible and it can get quite windy here, so it's a good idea for you to have rain gear and warmer clothing at hand if needed.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RESTRICTIONS

•  No coolers may be brought into the performance areas.

•  No glass containers can be brought into the performance areas.

•  Smoking is not allowed inside the performance area. (A smoking area just outside will be established.)
•  NO PETS ARE ALLOWED IN THE PERFORMANCE AREA EXCEPT SERVICE ANIMALS

•  Pets will be allowed in a designated section of the camping areas only and a surcharge for each pet will be levied. Pets must be leashed at all times and are not allowed in area other than the designated section of the camping area.

•  Check with camping area or gate personnel regarding possible options for kenneling your pet, but you will need the pet's vaccination records to do so.

•  All types of fireworks are strictly prohibited.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

IDENTIFICATION

•  As a festival attendee, you are required to wear a wristband identifying the day you are attending or identifying that you hold a four-day pass.

•  Wristbands must be worn at all times; they can't be unsealed. Do not cut them off until the festival (or festival day) is over.

•  Wristbands that have been cut will not be valid for re-admittance to the festival.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

VENUE AND SETTING

•  The site is on a bluff overlooking the Wet Mountain Valley and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The Main Stage will be under a large oval tent. Additional tents will house the "beer garden", merchandise sales (performer CDs and t-shirts) and space for additional seating.

•  The Workshop Stage will be placed in the banquet room at Cliff Lanes, across the street from the festival site.

•  Portable restrooms and hand-washing stations will be placed on the grounds and in the camping areas.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LIMITED DOG BOARDING AVAILABLE DURING THE FESTIVAL (added 4/16/09)

On a few occasions in the past, festival patrons have brought their pets with them and assumed they could bring their pets into the performance area. Unfortunately, we are unable to allow pets in the performance area due to liability concerns. To alleviate this issue, HMHF board member Chris Derick worked with the owners of our local veterinary and boarding facility, Dundee Memorial Animal Care Center, and they have agreed to extend their boarding hours over High Mountain Hay Fever Bluegrass Festival Weekend. We are very pleased and grateful that they have made it possible for festival-goers to bring their pets with them, knowing that they will be well cared for during the heat of the day. Dundee's hours for festival weekend are:

Friday, July 9: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Saturday, July 10: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM
Sunday, July 11: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Reservations must be made in advance as accommodations are limited. For complete details about services, restrictions and requirements, contact Dundee Memorial Animal Care Center directly at 719.783.3770 or click here to visit their website.
